Abstract

For a company, implementing an effective employee selection is imperative. Effective employee selection will prevent the company from experiencing losses, in both time and cost due to hiring employees who do not fit the needs of the job. To be able to carry out effective selection, organization must first determine the form of the successful performance of a job and what specifications must be held by employees associated with the performance. Specifications that someone must possessin order to be succeed in carrying out a job task is called selection criteria. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between organizational skills and affectivecommitment as selection criteria to job performance. The research method used in this study is correlation research method, which aims to investigate to which extent the relationship between organizational skills and affectivecommitmentto job performance partially. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 30 Management Development Program (MDP) graduates. The data was acquired and processed to test the hypothesis by using Spearman's rho correlation The result indicates that all those twoselection criteria havea positiverelationship with job performance. This study also suggests that employerneed togive more attention to organizationalskills as selection criteria and develop employee trainings to maintain that skills. Also, employer neededto identify factors that can build a positive work experience Keywords: selection criteria, organizational skills, affective commitment, and job performance
