Abstract

Basically, the salary received by employees from the company which they work has a purpose to increase their welfare. To ensure it can run properly, the company should have an effective payroll systems and procedures. Based on that condition, writer is trying to conduct an event study research about the operational audit on payroll processing in PT XYZ. This research examines the information about how the internal control runs and the effectivity of payroll systems and procedures in the company. So that the company’s goal to have an adequate internal control and payroll systems and procedures that runs properly can be achieved The research is using qualitative descriptive method. In this method, after the writer get the data directly from the company, then developing it with theory and the company’s standard operational procedures, so it will show the real performance of the company. According to the result of research, the writer conclude that the internal control is adequate, but the payroll systems and procedures still not match with PT XYZ’s standard operational procedures. So the ineffectiveness of it should be corrected. Keywords: operational audit, internal control, payroll, qualitative descriptive, and event study
