Abstract

This research aims to find out the depiction of personal financial literacy and financial behavior of STIE IBS undergraduate students, based on social demography factors. By taking samples of 87 students who already took the subject of financial management, the questionnaires as a primary source of data are distributed to the respondents. Financial literacy survey was measured using 27 items of multiple-choice questions and then calculated the score based on the percentage of correct answers. The characteristics of the respondents consist of genders, majors, GPA, having credit card or not, parents educations, parents income, and living with parents of living alone. The descriptive statistical is used to analyse the data collected. The results showed that female students, majoring in management, with the GPA range between 2.75-3.25, living with their parents, tend to have higher financial literacy. However based on the average of financial literacy, it is shown that the financial literacy of IBS students are still low, since the overall mean score of correct answers of the survey are 46.83% less than 60%, which means that the financial literacy f the students are at the low level. The respondents also showed the financial behavior in part of money management especially when dealing with urgent funds and financial decision making, while they do not show part of budgeting process as part of money management.
