Abstract

There are two purpose of this research (1) to examine relationship between Non performing Loan (NPL) and return on Asset (ROA) (first hypothesis (2) to examine relationship between each components of Non performing loan (NPL) : (Substandard (KL), doubful (d), and loss (M) loan) and return on asset (ROA) (Second, third, fourth hypoyhesis). This research uses secondary data which are bank's quaterly financial report that is taken from Bank Indonesia's website, bank's quaterly report that is taken form Bank Indonesia's website, bank's quaterly report that were published on the newspaper, and bank's animal report of 21 sample linear regression is used to test the first hypothesis, and multiple linear regression to test the second, third, and fourth hypothesis SPSS 16 for windows and Eviews 5.1 softwares are uses to process the data. The result shows that, for the first, second, third, fourth hypotesis, autocorrelations exist, therefore AR (1) has to be added to the model to solve the problem. For the first hypothesis before and adding NPL influence is significant to ROA. For the second, third, and fourth hypothesis after adding AR(1), loss loan is the only significant variable to ROA. Doubtful and substandard loan are not significant to ROA. Keyword: NPL, Substandard, Doubtful, Loss Loan, ROA, and Go public Banks.
