Abstract
In the process go public before the shares in the securities exchange is sold in the market which is often called the first Initial Public Offering (IPO). Stock prices that are sold at IPO has been determined beforehand, while prices in the secondary market is determined by the market mechanism supply and demand. At initial public offering there are tendency that underpricing could happen. Underpricing is a circumstance where a share price is lower at initial public offering compared to when it is commercialized in secondary market. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the level of underpricing at the initial public offering (IPO), either partially or simultaneously. The sample taken is a company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the year 2007-2009 and having underpriced. The number of samples that meet these criteria are 43 companies. Data are analyzed using multiple regression to test the relation between underpricing, and company’s size, financial leverage, company’s age and return on equity (ROE). The result of this research showed that company’s age and return on equity (ROE) have significant effect on underpricing partially, but the company’s size and financial Leverage did not significantly affect the level of underpricing. Simultaneously proving that all variables affect the underpricing level in Indonesian Stock Exchange the year 2005-2008.
