Abstract
Level of health of a company is an activity undertaken by these companies in order to maintain the viability and the smooth process of the industry and become a benchmark for monitoring the extent of company’s ability to keep the operating activity uninterrupted. Each industry has its own criteria in assessing the health of companies operating in these industries. For example, the BUMN companies rating health refers to the Surat Keputusan Menkeu No. 826/KMK.013/92and Surat Edaran Bank Indonesia No. 26/6/BPPP/93; Public Bank with Surat Keputusan Direktur Bank Indonesia No. 26/23/Kep/Dir/93 and Surat Edaran Bank Indonesia No. 26/6/BPPP/93; Cooperation with Surat Keputusan Dirjen Bina Lembaga Koperasi No. 359/BLK/V/91; and Insurance itself with Keputusan Menteri Keuangan Republik Indonesia No. 424/KMK.06/2003. This study aims to identify some variables that affect stock prices of insurance companies listed on the Stock Exchange during the period 2004 to 2009. These variables include the level of solvency, own-retention, and technical reserve Research method which used is panel data regression, which were processed by Eviews 6. Regression results shows that the three variables can explain the insurance company's share price. Magnitude of these effects is indicated by R2values that have been adjusted to equal 59,78%, and the rest which is 40,22% explained by other variables which are not being used in this research model. Finally, the conclusion of this research is the level of solvency variable (negative) did not significantly affects the stock prices but own-retention (positive) and the technical reserves (negative) significantly affects the stock prices of insurance companies listed on the Stock Exchange during the study period from 2004 to 2009. Keywords: Level of health, insurance, solvency, retention, technical reserves
